Individual counselors may base their practice on any number of theoretical approaches. Each theory offers an unique formula to serve the client. The theoretical basis for Living Well's counseling philosophy is the Humanistic and Cognitive orientation. The Cognitive approach to counseling recognizes the connection between thoughts, emotions and behaviors. In Cognitive therapy therapists work with clients to identify thought patterns that can contribute to uncomfortable feelings. By addressing these thoughts, an individual can significantly and positively change emotional responses and in turn alter problematic behavior patterns. Crescent S.
